Coffee Connects the World at CIIE

On the afternoon of November 7 2024, the International Coffee Trade Seminar and Kunshan Industry Promotion Event, a grand gathering focused on the future of the global coffee industry, was successfully held at the National Exhibition and Convention Center during the 7th China International Import Expo. Invited as a VIP guest, the World Chamber of Commerce Platform attended the event to witness a new chapter in international exchange and cooperation within the coffee industry.

This event brought together coffee industry leaders from China, Ethiopia, Uganda, Colombia, Vietnam, and other regions. Prominent figures such as Ms. Yu Lu, Vice President of the China Chamber of Commerce of Foodstuffs and Native Produce; H.E. Tefera Derbew Yimam, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ethiopia to China; H.E. Oliver Wonekha, Ambassador of Uganda to China; Mr. Oscar, Commercial Counselor of the Colombian Embassy in China; and Mr. Nguyen The Tung, Consul General of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in Shanghai, delivered insightful speeches on the current state of the coffee industry and the prospects for trade and cooperation between China and international coffee markets.

The event also featured a presentation from the Kunshan Development Zone, showcasing its strategic location, favorable business environment, and industry development strengths. Representatives from the Development Zone emphasized their aim to use the expo and this event as platforms to foster global cooperation in the coffee sector, facilitate technology sharing, and promote cultural exchange. They envision attracting top brands and high-quality projects to Kunshan, as well as integrating advanced ideas and unique cultural elements, propelling the coffee industry in Kunshan towards greater clustering, diversity, and high-added value, thereby creating a multiplier effect.

Additionally, the Chief Executive Coordinator of the Ecuador Chamber shared insights on the event theme, offering valuable recommendations for the development of Kunshan’s coffee sector. Drawing from practical experience in their respective fields, participants contributed ideas and expertise to foster growth and innovation in the global coffee industry.
