Chile’s Green Hydrogen Strategy Action Plan.
Chile’s Vision for Green Hydrogen: Chile’s strategic plan, as reported by Emol News on May 2, 2024, outlines a comprehensive approach to foster the green hydrogen industry through 81 measures across 18 work areas. The plan is structured in two phases:
- Phase One (2023-2026): Focuses on establishing an effective licensing system, tax incentives, and financial measures to scientifically advance the industry by setting environmental, social, and labor standards.
- Phase Two (2026-2030): Aims to promote the development of green hydrogen through land planning, local development, and the engagement of citizens and human capital.
The Impact of Green Hydrogen: President Boric of Chile has highlighted the immense potential of hydrogen energy, likening it to the lithium industry in terms of its capacity for growth and significance for national welfare. Currently, over 50 hydrogen projects are in development, with more than 2,000 households and units in pilot regions like Antofagasta and Magallanes already utilizing green hydrogen energy, effectively reducing carbon dioxide emissions.
