China–LDC Agricultural Trade and Food Industry Cooperation Seminar

Shanghai, November 8, 2025 — The Seminar on Import Policies and the Development of Agricultural and Food Products from Least Developed Countries (LDCs), together with the Kunshan High-End Food Industry Promotion Conference, was successfully convened at the National Exhibition and Convention Center in Shanghai. The World Chinese Hospitality and Merchants Association (WCHAM) was honored to participate in the event, gaining first-hand insight into China’s latest policy advancements and emerging opportunities for international cooperation in the agricultural and food sectors of LDCs.

The conference brought together senior policymakers, industry leaders, academic experts, and international diplomatic representatives. The program featured keynote addresses, policy briefings, strategic cooperation signings, and the release of authoritative reports, fostering in-depth dialogue on trade facilitation and industrial development.

Key highlights of the event included the introduction of China’s zero-tariff policy for eligible products from LDCs, significantly improving market access and trade inclusivity; innovative measures in inspection, quarantine, and customs clearance aimed at streamlining entry procedures for LDC enterprises; and high-level perspectives shared by distinguished leaders such as Mr. Zhou Hanmin, Ms. Chen Liyan, Mr. Gao Jingyuan, as well as H.E. ambassadors from Ethiopia and Uganda.

WCHAM reaffirmed its commitment to advancing global economic cooperation by strengthening connections between international chambers of commerce and enterprises. The Association continues to support LDC countries in accessing the Chinese market, contributing to mutually beneficial partnerships and promoting sustainable, long-term growth.
